SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT WHAT BEING NEURODIVERGENT IN HOSPITALITY REALLY MEANS

Biography

A little bit about me and what I can offer…

Gareth Rees is an award winning hotelier, speaker, and the founder of Attention Deficit Hospitality Disorder, a consultancy and training platform focused on helping neurodivergent people thrive in hospitality and helping leaders create workplaces where standards and wellbeing can coexist.

With years of senior operational experience across luxury hotels and restaurant environments, Gareth has managed and developed teams in fast-paced settings where the margin for error is small and the expectations are high. He’s known for building strong culture, improving communication and consistency, and translating “people problems” into practical systems that work on shift.

In 2024, Gareth was diagnosed with ADHD during debilitating burnout. That experience became the catalyst for his work today: bridging the gap between neurodiversity awareness and operational reality. Gareth’s keynotes and workshops focus on neuroinclusive leadership, reducing overwhelm, designing better shifts, and retaining great people in an industry under constant pressure. He speaks to managers in language they recognise, guest experience, performance, standards and finances, giving them tools they can implement immediately.

Gareth’s approach is honest, humorous, and action-led. He challenges outdated hospitality narratives (“power through,” “toughen up,” “that’s the job”) and replaces them with modern leadership behaviours that protect performance over the long term. He has been recognised for his work in hospitality leadership development, including industry accolades and professional programmes, and now works with operators and leadership teams to turn inclusion into measurable improvement.
